Abstract

Based on a cluster sampling representative survey focusing on Hungarian small and medium enterprises (SME), Szerb et al (2014) has developed the Small Enterprises’ Competitiveness Index (SECI). With this methodology the competitiveness of the enterprises can be analysed at a company-level relying on 10 pillars.
The second methodological background of the study is the company-level energy consciousness index. This framework is focusing on enterprise level energy characteristics and features, based on a unique survey in the South Transdanubian Region. The employed survey was carried out along with the one used as a basis of SECI studies. In this paper we show and discover the methodology of this company-level energy consciousness index.
The aim of this study is to explore the possible correlations and connections of the SECI and the company-level energy consciousness index. In the paper we analyse that if the energy consciousness index appears as an additional feature of the company level competitiveness. The results of the research declares, that there is a weak correlation of the energy consciousness, the SECI pillars and the competitiveness indicator.
