In the twenty-first century, the huge amount of data generated means that we need to pay particular attention to protecting it. In the course of our lives, a huge amount of data is generated about us, which can be completely disconnected from our real identity. After we die, this information about us, our online identity, becomes autonomous and lives on, which may raise the question of how to protect it. In this article, I will take an international perspective, examining the laws of various foreign countries and their regulatory approaches to post-mortem data protection.
