“South African Republic, the economic – political power of the African continent is buying water from its tiny neighbour!” – a quotation could be found on the pages of tabloids which nonetheless perfectly reflects reality. Lesotho, one of the smallest countries of Africa is rich in water – the population use only 10% of precious water resources highly important for other people and governments. The Kingdom this way recognized water as a primary export good since the sixties. Beyond intention proper infrastructure was needed as well, thus the neighbouring South-Africa and many international investors have decided to join this development. We can learn the premise, the different phases and the project itself of Africa’s most significant water-related co-operation from the article of the honorary consul of Lesotho.
