Abstract

Barrier-free everyday life is self-evident for most people. However, a lot of people suffer from some kind of
disability, which affects every segment of their lives. Barrier-free tourism in not questioned on the level of
words; meanwhile reality shows a different picture. The tourism possibilities – thus the travel habits and
needs – of disabled people show significant differences compared to the characteristics of the general
population in our country.
In the interest of awareness-raising, targeted development and the launch of practical steps, it has become
inevitable to carry out a cumulative research transmitting the views of disabled people. Besides presenting
the results of the research, suggestions are also made to contribute to the realisation of the physical – mental
– intellectual accessibility of today’s travellers’ journey.
