Abstract

The article examines a small clash between two different Maasai tribes from the Tanganyikan (German) and the Kenyan (British) side of the border. The events, which resulted in fatalities, too, demonstrate the conditions and everyday life of the “bush” far from the administrative centres and the relation among the German and British colonial administrations just before WWI. Last, but not least, we can see how the local people try to utilize the circumstances to maximize their benefits.
