Abstract

The first double issue of the eleventh volume of our journal covers yet again a wide range of intriguing topics and themes. Unique pieces are presented about the morphological characteristics of two African languages in light of the Hungarian language, as well as Africa and Africans in the contemporary Irish theatre. This last paper is authored by Professor Emerita Mária Kurdi, a renowned expert of English and Irish literature. The linguistic analysis is put forward by Linda Ouma, a Kenyan BA-student at the University of Pécs. Contemporary issues are dealt with two by others scholars, Balázs Szélinger, who writes about Eritrea in a historic perspective, with a focus on the role of the extended military service in the mass migration of the Eritrean youth; and PhD-student Katalin Kis, who deals with sustainable energy management and renewable energy resources in Africa. In our review section Szilárd Biernaczky gives an overview of nine books published by L’Harmattan, and István Tarrósy sums up the major argument of the Scottish Rwanda-expert, Hazel Cameron, from her book on Britain’s hidden role in the genocide of 1994. We hope you will enjoy them, and will support us in the coming years, in particular, as the Hungarian Journal of African Studies has been selected a C-category journal of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences this year.
