Abstract

“Africa: Tribes, States, Kingdoms”—this ”is the German title of the now classic work “African Kingdoms” by the distinguished English Africanist Basil Davidson, who died in July of this year. Perhaps German precision was the reason why the original English title was not enough, as the author wanted to show in his work how progressive a continent Africa was before the slave trade and then colonialism pushed it off the path of organic development.
