Equatorial Africa
Abstract
A typical feature of the surface of Africa is the variation of inner basins (e.g.: Chad, Congo, Kalahari) with vast expanse and ridges (e.g.: Azande, Lunda, Katanga). In the centre of Africa, on the two sides of the Equator almost symmetrically lays the most beautiful example of the African giant basins: the Congo Basin and its margin areas. This equatorial, rainy area covered with rain forests, together with dry forests and rainy savannas at the edges is encapsulated by the Congo’s water system. The inside of the basin is the second less-inhabited landscape of Africa after the deserts.
