In September 2007, dozens of fashion designers, supermodels, and agents gathered at a New York hotel to protest racial discrimination in the fashion industry. In the United States, it has become surprisingly difficult to succeed as a black model in recent years, even though similar discrimination would be unthinkable in any other profession.
