Abstract

Sudan is at a crossroads. Under the Comprehensive Peace Agreement signed in 2005, which was intended to end the north-south civil war, after a six-year transition period, South Sudan will be able to decide its future fate in a referendum. That is, whether it will continue to exist as an independent state or continue to exist together with the north.
