Abstract
Dear Readers,
We are launching our 14th volume with a “strong double”, as the 130-page-long issue again collects excellent papers from the domains of current/foreign affairs, civic
issues, ethnographic observations, as well as book reviews. The first Hungarian language publication on Kazakhstan-Africa relations is authored by László Vasa. While Daher Rashed writes about the recent developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Norbert Somogyi provides a thorough overview of the geopolitical challenges of North Africa and Mediterranean region with a particular focus on agriculture and food safety. Dániel Solymári and Janet Mangera then, from an international aid and development perspective, summarize the history and regulatory framework of civic movements in Kenya since 1991. József Brauer-Benke offers an insight into the so-called African “talking drums”. Our 20+-page review section is filled with some good critical pieces by András A. Gergely and doctoral student Sándor Oltean. Closing off, we add the authors’ guidelines of our English-language issue, the forthcoming manifestation of the Hungarian Journal of African Studies. We wish all of you enjoyable and meaningful time with us!
