Abstract

The author recounts his experiences on his journey to Senegal, and through the tragic fate of a little beggar boy from Dakar, Omar, and his daily struggle for survival, he presents the sad fate of children sold by their parents to marabouts, local religious leaders. He also recalls a trip to Touba, the holy city of Senegal, where his negative image of the marabouts became definitive. Their greed and greed for money, as well as their lifestyle based on the exploitation of the poor, are repulsive; they exploit tens of thousands of people with the help of their reputation and suppress the secret desires of little beggars, perhaps incomprehensibly naive to European eyes...
