Living Heritage
Traditional Style with West African Motifs
Abstract
A characteristic of African societies is the parallel and interconnected existence of modernity and millennia-old traditions. This duality manifests itself not only in everyday life but also in art, which draws inexhaustible inspiration from ancient beliefs. By presenting some of her works, Bernadett Arowolo summarised how typical characters, stylistic features, forms, and colours of Nigeria encapsulate a diverse yet unified country.
