Abstract

In November of last year, my partner and I spent a long time in Tunisia. We had in mind that we would get to know the country as much as possible in the time available. With the help of a map, a guidebook, a GPS, and a backpack, we set out on the task: to discover the cultural values and the authentic world of the interior. During our trip, we spent longer and shorter periods of time, for example, in Sousse, Mahdia, Monastir, Käirouan, Tunis, Carthage, Sidi-Bou-Säid, El-Jem and Sfax. The article contains the experiences and impressions, the background information necessary for interpretation, and the unity of the conclusions I drew. Due to space constraints, I can only provide the reader with a fragment of the whole experience that became useful to me.
