Abstract

In recent times, the Hungarian Defence Forces have increased their participation in peacekeeping operations in Africa, albeit only slightly, by sending soldiers to the European Union Training Mission in Somalia. Four Hungarian soldiers served there for six months and have since returned, and the mandates of those replacing them are also about to expire. Very few people have heard of this activity at home, and many do not even know how the EU is involved in the reconstruction of Somalia.
