Some examples of the change of material culture in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Abstract
At the beginning of the evolution of anthropology objects from outside Europe provided knowledge for science about peoples and their cultures. With the appearance of longer and broader analyses and field studies the examination of material objects are becoming less significant. This is pre-eminently true in the case of peoples living outside Europe. However, the anthropologist can gain useful information by the observation, collection and examination of pieces of material culture. Collecting materials and examining them is still reasonable these days, since material culture is constantly changing in societies outside Europe due to different social tendencies. Objects are vanishing, transforming, or are reborn, and some brand new examples are even popping up.
