Abstract

It is a less known fact that the Republic of Hungary took an active role – by sending military experts – in the EUSEC RD Congo (EU Security Sector Reform Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo) mission led by the European Union. István Papp retired lieutenant-colonel arrived to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in July 2005 and later he was followed by Major Zsigmond Csajági who functioned as member of the expert team until the end of 2007. We can read about their experiences and the results of the EU mission in this article, the author of which had previously taken part in several similar African peace missions as well.
