Abstract

Major results of a survey made at a National Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous (Pécs, 2009) are discussed. In addition to demographic data, themes include assistance received before joining AA during the drinking career; failed attempts to quit drinking together with the explanations for the failures; the different ways to join AA; the actual realization of the program and its interrelations with lapse/relapse; and other issues concerning members’ world-views and life-worlds.
