Abstract

After 30-years of the harm reduction treatment approach, a new recovery agenda has come back into the centre of the addiction public health arena. The author gives an overview of certain elements of the traditional recovery model and harm reduction approach as antecedents of the emerging field of the new recovery agenda. He reckons that in addition to the lifestyle change, identity reshaping and modification of intergenerational transmission with respect to generativity may have a paramount role in the recovery journey.
