Abstract

Nearly 7% of the total population of the EU is migrants; and each year another one million is arriving from non-EU countries. A high proportion of the migrants work in agriculture (e. g., in Italy) and they are settled down in villages. Health care plays a decisive role in their successful integration. There is a need for specially trained experts who can facilitate this delicate but essential process – the successful integration of the migrant population into the majority society, with special emphasis on rural communities. The University of Pécs, Medical School Migrant Health Programs aim to address this challenge. (http://www.mighealth-unipecs.eu/)
