After determining the spatial boundaries of the Ormánság, authors focus on the socioeconomic problems of the region, which can be traced back to the middle of the 18th century. Characteristics of tourism in the Ormánság are analysed according to today’s global tourism trends. The study draws readers’ attention to the scattered tourist attractions of the region, what further complicates the development and organization of tourism. Ecotourism presents opportunities for development; and as a product, fits the area and is fully reconcilable with schemes of the Old-Drava Program. Authors focus on tourism supply, by examining the accommodation services that reflect the status of tourism in their structure, capacity and the data of utilization. Authors highlight the importance of co-operation between the maintainers of attractions, the suppliers and the civil sector. Opportunities are analyzed through a best practice example, the methodology and practice of the Greenways.
