Abstract

Authors analyze recovery experiences of clients with substance use disorder, who have received treatment in residential programs. The survey was conducted on a convenience sample of recovering persons to underpin major processes and indicators of therapeutic success which have been identified in international evaluation research and in a previous qualitative
study by the Pécs research team. Core features of therapy and perceived factors of therapeutic success were analyzed. Dimensions of major transformations are identified, comparing the current states of recovering persons to crisis experiences of „hitting the bottom”.
