The Gusti school carried out several research campaigns in the interwar Romania. Women were also involved (as researchers and students) in it, who made a significant contribution to Romanian sociology. However, in accordance with the historical gender roles, their career opportunities were curbed, and they were mostly considered as assistants. Presenting two particular cases, the study presents the mechanisms through which male members of the teams assured that women could only gain secondary statuses.
