The postponed congress

Abstract

It often happens, that the preparation for and the motivation behind an event is more important, than the event itself. The XIV^th International Congress of Sociology, planned to be organized in Bucharest, on the 29^th of August, 1939, was postponed due to the outbreak of the World War II. However, the preparation of the event, including the in-advance publication of a large number of studies, positioned the Gusti school of sociology in the forefront of the international sociology.
