Abstract

The Trianon Treaty significantly diminished the territory of the Tiszántúl Reformed Church District, the eastern church parishes being incorporated into Romania. These parishes formed the Királyhágómellék Church District, which was not officially acknowledged by the Romanian authorities until 1939. The District was not eligible for state funding and was hindered in its activities, but even so it could manage to become a major social service provider in the interwar Nagyvárad (Oradea).
