Abstract

The formation of identity largely depends on one’s social network. Identity changes have a crucial role in changing patterns of substance use and other forms of deviant behaviour. Authors summarize the theoretical foundations and the research method of identity structure analysis (ISA). (Weinreich, 2003) By applying a specification of Ipseus, a framework software, we have explored the identity of 10 novel psychoactive substance users. Results of the explorative study describe core personal constructs, major identification patterns and conflicts. Our pilot study may serve as a basis of further research on a larger sample.
