Mission
Social Review provides a forum for social professionals – practitioners and academics – to share their latest advances in knowledge and practice in the field of social work. Its main mission is to contribute to responding to the challenges in sustainable development through social work research.
Following the Global Definition of Social Work by the International Federation of Social Workers (2014, available at https://www.ifsw.org/what-is-social-work/global-definition-of-social-work/), Social Review encourages authors to adopt a systemic perspective in their analyses with a focus on the person-in-environment, also establishing strong connections between practice and research. Focal themes include:
- Reflections on environmental issues, and theoretical and empirical contributions to the common foci set by the Global Definitions of Social Work and the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. These common goals are expressed in The People’s Charter for an Eco-Social World (2022, https://newecosocialworld.com/the-peoples-charter-for-an-eco-social-world/ )
- Empirical studies from the areas of applied social research (e.g., programme evaluation, social policy analysis, or needs-based research in its broadest sense)
- Studies on interprofessional collaboration
- Studies conducted in the transdisciplinary areas that are relevant for the social worker practitioner and researcher (e.g., education, social economy, social law, health issues etc.)
- Methodological innovations in social work practice
- Papers on social work research methods/use of methods in empirical studies that reflect the systemic and in-depth analytical perspective of social work research
