View Vol. 12 No. 1 (2025): Leisure and social life

This issue explores the theme of leisure and social life, pointing out that leisure is not only time outside work, but also time of unique value for self-development and enjoyment. From the 19th and 20th centuries onwards, leisure activities that go beyond the satisfaction of everyday needs became increasingly important. The articles in this issue describe, among other things, the car tours of the elite, the club life of university teachers, the leisure activities of soldiers and the world of amateur theatre in the Kádár era. In the Workshop section, you can read about the heyday of professional photography, the iconography of ex libris and a slice of Habsburg folklore. In the Retrospect section, an interview with the founder of the JESZ, János Mikuli.
