"The structure of Maasai society"
Abstract
Émile Durkheim's 1906 work ‘Organisation sociale masai’, translated by Petra Paulics, examines the structure of Maasai society, particularly focusing on the duality of the group's legal system. The work explores the political and familial elements that define the Maasai community, as well as its age-based organisation, highlighting the military nature and significance thereof, detailing how these elements shape the social structure and legal system of the Maasai.
