Abstract

It is an enviable adventure to travel across and discover the cities, regions and the customs of the people of Gambia, the smallest country in continental Africa, especially if we go by bicycle on our own instead of an organized tour. Abigél Tomsits and her colleague had such an opportunity for new adventures. Starting out from the Eastern corner of the country - on the route planned by themselves – they biked through modernizing cities, traditional villages and the famous regions of Gambia until after three hundred kilometres they reached the capital, Banjul on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The author in her diary-like piece of writing summarizes their travelling adventures, by which we also feel like riding a bike in the African heat.
