Abstract

The Yoruba are the second largest ethnic group in Nigeria. This study explores the origins of the tribe and the hierarchy of their deities. The Yoruba belief system—similar to other traditional African religions—is closely connected to mystical beliefs, magic, spiritualism, divination, and various rituals. We gain a comprehensive understanding of the Yoruba people's daily life, their ritual ceremonies, and the significant role of masks and music.
