Absztrakt

English summary of the interview with Théodore Trefon

During the conversation with Théodore Trefon in his office at Tervuren, I asked personal and professional questions about his life, studies, research and personal opinion about the past, present and future of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Théodore originally comes from the USA, and partly thanks to his mentor, partly to his research topic, he settled down in Belgium. He examines the former Belgian colony from a political economical point of view, also with historical aspects. As he works with very contemporary issues, he travels frequently to the Congo. He has also been to the dangerous eastern part of the Congo, during his field trips. Researcher, lecturer, author of several essays and books, he has vast information about the Congo. Currently, he works as researcher at the Royal Museum for Central Africa in Tervuren, close to Brussels.
