Abstract

Accessible tourism has long been a neglected area of tourism research. This is about to change with the international 4-country research under the Erasmus project "Accessible". The exploratory study of people with disabilities provides a wealth of new findings on the tourism consumption habits of this target group. The research has also looked at how inclusive the social environment is and whether people with disabilities are discriminated against when travelling. Negative practices may have an impact on the motivation and travel practices of people with disabilities. Examining the prevalence of discrimination and raising awareness can help to develop good practice and increase social inclusion.
