Abstract

Due to globalization and technological changes our habits have changed and become unsustainable.
The importance of sustainability has increased worldwide in the last few years, but it depends on
several socio-cultural factors, which are how much we are capable of moderating the destruction
processes of our environment and society. The continuous economic growth increased the
differences in society and because of that the welfare and well-being in societies have fallen in
some areas. In addition, generations have shown up for whom a rural traditional event might not
mean entertainment. Because of that, I feel important to make these events amusing and, in this
way, the welfare of local people and the willingness of re-visiting might rise. The aim of this paper
is to examine the connection between place-attachment and sustainable tourism created by the
“Busó” Festival in Mohács, and its base is a research which was completed in March of 2020. The
observation includes a quantitative questionnaire and a qualitative interview with a professional.
The former was filled out by local people and tourists, the latter was created by me and I asked the
main event organizer of “Busó” Festival.
