DÉL-DUNÁNTÚL, A KULTURÁLIS TURISZTIKAI RÉGIÓ?
Keywords:
cultural tourism, motivation, guest survey, South TransdanubiaAbstract
„The southwestern region of Hungary with the center, Pécs is the citadel of the Hungarian cultural
tourism.”
In this paper I examine the validity of the statement above: does high quality cultural offer really
attract guests to the region? Does cultural motivation really determine the choice of the region?
Are culture and cultural experiences really the brand of the region? Can a preference for one of the
cultural tourism products be detected?
I am looking for answers in the data of the guest survey at the University of Pécs; supplemented
by the results of further recent researches and by the examination of the designated and occupied
position of the region in the country’s image.
Today, cultural tourism is a dynamically developing product. The indirect aim of the study is to
encourage stakeholders to act for the actual realization of the cultural region in South Transdanubia
- in the form of complex product and regional development.
