In the present study I examine how the process of heritage preservation leads trough the
rehabilitation of a certain manor to the creation of a tourist attraction. My assumption is that the
exhibition space referred to as a privately founded museum is just a mean to endow the building
with a new function. At the same time, the museum tries to offer an image that permits the
consumption of experiences related to the memory and lifestyle of former nobility, reflected
through the material culture of a bygone era. I try to explore the complexity of the issue by
paralleling the history of the noble family with its recent decisions and with the evolution of the
building, constructed by the ancestors of the past, which has value of art history. The museum set
up in the castle is a tourist attraction and at the same time an element of the cultural heritage tourism
offer located in the rural area. For the actors of the county public administration it also turns into a
reference point for the justification of the brand expressed by the slogan: Covasna County, The
Land of Mansions.
