International trends in hospitality, the future of hospitality

Abstract

Hospitality is one of the most important services in the global tourism industry. Hospitality has increased its share of both employment and added value in recent decades. In the European Union, hospitality accounted for around 4% of GDP at the beginning of the new millennium and has since grown rapidly at rates of up to 5-6% per year, driven by various economic and demographic trends and changes, technological developments and labour market developments. The study analyses trends in the fast-changing hospitality sector in recent years and the trends expected in the years ahead.
