The studies in the 6th issue of Pontes published in 2023 deal with the history of office and careers in the modern era, mainly in the 18th and the first half of the 19th century. The authors deal with certain issues of the modernisation of the Hungarian counties, town administration, and the administration of large estates, but also focus on the educational and promotion strategies of the count branch of Family Batthyány, the career paths and the network of contacts of Prince Albert of Saxony-Teschen during his regency. There is also a study on the Catholic priestly office and the normative expectations associated with it, as well as research on the officeeholders of Baranya and Somogy counties. In the Publications section, we read about the methodological possibilities of linking nominal sources, the demographic characteristics of Hungarian denominations in the early 20th century and the state of the German communities of Völgység in the early 1920s.

Pontes is the annual of the Institution of History (University of Pécs, Faculty of Humanities). The issue contains thematic studies in the even years which represent the scientific achievements of the whole institution. The departments compile the editions in the odd years, which cover their era. The annual is open for the whole scientific community and welcomes studies from authors outside the Institute.
