Thematic walks of the Pécs–Villány tourism development area – Analysis and development proposals

Abstract

In the framework of the survey, the thematic walking routes of the Pécs-Villány tourism region have been collected and categorized, as well as analyzed and evaluated for their characteristics, by using primary sources (web content of tourism enterprises, guest statistics data) and our own experiences (processing of in-depth interviews with service providers, survey of the opinions of local tour guides, field trips), and by reviewing the relevant secondary sources. As a result of the research, it has been possible to outline an overview on the characteristics of the thematic tours available in the destination concerned, their supply characteristics, and the problems and shortcomings that hinder full success to the given tourism product on the market. Finally, development directions and suggestions to mitigate the negative effects of the latter have been formulated.
