Abstract

The following research envisages the impact of tourism on the traditional occupations of Palolem village, a
beach tourist destination located in southern most part of Goa, India. Longitudinal data from 1971-2017 has
been collected and analysed to put forth how the traditional occupations like agriculture, fishing and toddy
tapping has been replaced by new opportunities in tourism sector.
