Abstract

Krishna Valley, the only own settlement of Krishna-believers in Hungary has gone through continuous
improvement since 1996. Besides being a settlement of over 100 inhabitants, it is an important touristic sight
in Southern Hungary, nowadays visited by tens of thousands of tourists yearly. The Valley provides various
programs and organizes festivities all year, the most important of which is the Krishna Valley Fair attracting
5-6000 visitors in three days. During my research I examined the motivations of tourists visiting the area
during the Fair on a non-representative sample of 238 visitors. The focus of my research was the hypothesis
that Krishna Valley is not primarily subject to religious tourism. In my research questions I aimed to find the
most important reasons for people visiting the Krishna Valley through a set of questions to be able to
determine the main paths on which
