Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

1. General information

The editors only accept manuscripts that take into account the rules of Hungarian spelling and grammatical aspects. Manuscripts shall be submitted electronically by the first day of March and August each year. Figures (pictures, diagrams, etc.) that are part of the manuscript shall be submitted in a separate file numbered, titled and the source should be designated. Manuscripts can be submitted in Hungarian, English, German, French.
 
The editorial board of the journal checks the manuscripts in the Turnitin plagiarism detection system provided by the University of Pécs prior to the peer review process. The peer review work is always carried out by experts in the relevant field. The peer review process is anonymous. The average time between submission and publication of an article is typically 12-20 weeks.
 
2. Text format
 
The manuscript should be edited in Garamond font, font size 12, line space 1.15, space 0, without the use of separation at the end of the lines. Do not apply identation to the first paragraph of a chapter or subsection, but begin the first line of the subsequent paragraphs with identation. Paragraphs are not separated by a space. Chapters and subsections are separated by a line space. At the beginning of the manuscript, on the left is the author's name (surname with small caps, the whole name in bold), position and institution.

The text is divided into chapters and, if necessary, subsections. The chapters (1.) and subsections (1.1) are numbered in Arabic numbers, up to a maximum of three (1.1.1) levels, in bold. The numbering of chapters and subsections is usually followed by a chapter title or subsection title in bold. In case of literal citation, quotation marks and italic fonts should be used. If a phase in a literal quote is missing, it must be marked with a (…). Content citations should not be highlighted in the text. Within the main text, names and foreign expressions are in italic fonts. Names that occur more than once must be written out completely in the first case, but in all further cases only the surname must be given. The place names must be given in the text according to Hungarian spelling. A different spelling may be given in square brackets at the first mention. The dates (in the order of year, month, day) must be given in Arabic numbers in the footnotes and, if necessary, in the figures, and the name of the month in letters in the main text. A long hyphen must be used between two dates with a space before and after it, while for names written with a hyphen, a short hyphen must be used, between page numbers a long hyphen must be written, in the latter two cases before and after the hyphen without a space. In the case of co-authored works, a long hyphen must be given between the authors’ names with a space before and after the hyphen. If the referenced work was not published in one place, the place names are separated by a long hyphen with a space before and after it. The place of the figures in the manuscript must be clearly marked. If technically possible, the figures and their titles and sources should be included in the manuscript itself, in addition to the list of figures submitted in a separate file.

 

3. Scientific requirements

Scientific requirements of the manusrcipts are: English title, 5-10 lines English abstract and 3-7 keywords, notes, literature and sources used and in appropriate cases a list of abbreviations. The English title, the abstract and the keywords are placed at the beginning of the manuscript, after the Hungarian title.

Sacral contra secular values in the period of the civil modernization

European legal culture is primarily rooted in Roman–Germanic heritage and Jewish–Christian revelation, although it is not intact from Asian and islamic effects. As opposed to the absolute values of the Jewish–Christian culture, from the time of the French Revolution relativism concerning good and bad, right and wrong is trendy. Absolute sacral values and relative secular values differentiated from each other only at the early time of the civil modernization. However when the public life passed into profane, became this distance only exceptional. The combination and rivalry of sacral and secular values are typical up to the present day in Europe.

In the manuscripts only footnotes are allowed. Footnotes must be given in font size 10, Arabic numbers, continously numbered. The details of the work referenced in the footnotes include the author’s last name (small capital font), the following comma, the abbreviated title of the work and the page number in the first and further references in font size 10.

In the list of literature (and if necessary, sources) - depending on the type - the literature and sources are given as follows, in font size 10.
