Mortality differences and similarities in the European Union

Abstract

Analysis of a country's mortality data provides insights into its overall development, healthcare system, culture, and various other characteristics. This study compares the mortalities of the current 27 member states of the European Union between 2008 and 2021. In addition to the distance metrics used in earlier studies, we propose new ones. Finally, we compare the countries' performance in handling the pandemic during the first two years of COVID-19. }
