About the Journal

Dear Reader,

 

On behalf of the Editorial Board of SZIGMA, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all those interested in our journal. SZIGMA is the journal of the Hungarian Economic Modelling Society, with a history spanning several decades. Professor Béla Martos deserves enduring recognition for launching the journal in 1968. Published generally in four issues per year, the journal provides a forum for economic research that seeks to explore the regularities underlying public-sector and business economic processes, as well as the relationships between phenomena observed in these fields, using contemporary quantitative methods.

Professor Béla Martos’s internationally recognised achievements, extensive research experience, profound respect for science, and two decades of dedicated service as Editor-in-Chief provided an excellent foundation for the development of a scholarly community whose high-quality research elevated the journal to the forefront of Hungarian economic scholarship. As a result, SZIGMA became one of the most important Hungarian-language publications in the field of economics in Hungary. Subsequent editors have assumed the responsibility of preserving this tradition while, wherever possible, creating opportunities for the journal’s continued development. In this respect, Professor József Vörös made an outstanding contribution by further enhancing the quality and standing of SZIGMA through his own twenty years of dedicated service as Editor-in-Chief.

The establishment of SZIGMA’s online presence likewise serves this purpose. We hope that making the journal available online will further increase its popularity, readership, and visibility, while also accelerating the dissemination of scientific results. The electronic version contains the same content as the printed issues and serves as their digital counterpart. Articles are made available online following the completion of the technical editing process.

The Editorial Board’s publication policy is not affected by the transition to an electronic format. SZIGMA will continue to publish peer-reviewed studies based on economic research that employs quantitative methods. The authors of these studies contribute, in Hungarian and through their original ideas, to expanding the existing body of knowledge in economics and business economics.

We invite all our readers to contribute to this endeavour by reflecting further on the studies published in the journal, sharing any critical comments they may have regarding the research, and presenting their own findings. We hope that, through these contributions, our readers will help ensure that SZIGMA continues to remain a leading journal in the field.

We would also like to express our special thanks to the leadership of Section IX of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences for providing funding for the technical editing and printing costs of SZIGMA.
