The study offers a methodological suggestion for the future academic field of nineteenth-century Hungarian women’s history claiming that it would be worthwhile to make the field’s own politicised character visible. After a conceptual clarification, the paper argues that the recognition of the politicising role of women’s history-writing in this discourse is not yet evident. Outlining the trends in this field of discourse, a case study-like model analysis illustrates why it is necessary to reflect and elaborate on the politicisation. The second major section of the thesis lays the theoretical groundwork for the proposal, analyses the reasons for the failure to recognise politicisation, and provides further details on the proposal.
