Abstract

People's connection to social and economic services and recreational activities plays a crucial role in both the mental and physical health of daily commuters. Moreover, there is a growing perception that, regardless of generation, the preference for sustainable transport has negative outcomes, such as loss of mobility, in addition to the well-known global and individual positive effects. The aim is to provide a comprehensive definition and to identify the main factors influencing social exclusion in transport. In the present literature review, transport-related social exclusion is analysed through a theoretical literature synthesis using a text database of 94 documents, of which 40 were finally examined. Accessibility and mobility were represented in these literatures as key factors when analysing transport-related social exclusion in transport and social science.
