Abstract

Aim and objectives: This study examines the current issues of sex education in Hungary, highlighting its shortcomings and social consequences. Although support for the sexual education of children is guaranteed at the legal level, the practical implementation falls short of expectations, both in schools and in families. In educational institutions, due to the lack of training of teachers and the limitations of the legal framework, sex education is not uniform, ineffective, and often not even implemented. Parents often do not provide adequate guidance to children, who thus rely on information found on the Internet, which is not always reliable. This can contribute to an increase in sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancies, and relationship problems. The author formulates proposals for the development of sex education, emphasizing the importance of training teachers and health professionals, the need for social consensus, and the strengthening of school education.
