About the Journal

Pécs journal of international and European law (PJIEL or Pécs j. int. Eur. law) is an open access, peer-reviewed international and European law journal.

History

PJIEL was founded in 2014 as the international and European law journal published by the Centre for European Research and Education (CEERE)  of the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs (Hungary). Since that time, PJIEL has steadily developed to be an acknowledged legal journal in Central-Eastern Europe. 


Aim

PJIEL aims to provide a common platform for the publication of analysis and research relating to international law and European law, with specific attention devoted to legal developments in the Western Balkans.

Scope

The journal  accepts publications connected to the disciplines of international and European law, and focuses also on the interaction of these legal systems with national legal systems and with each other as well.

Frequency

PJIEL is published two times a year. The first issue is published in January-February, and the second issue is published in August-September.

Publisher information:
CEERE, the publisher of PJIEL was founded in 1996 by the Senate of the University of Pécs (then Janus Pannonius University) to function as an independent university institution. From 1998 on – in accordance with the beginning of Hungary’s EU-accession process – several other centres of European Studies were founded throughout Hungary, financed through government grants. Their main aim has been the organising and maintenance of European studies education and training.
