FIUME TURIZMUSÁNAK FEJLŐDÉSE (1868–1914)
Keywords:

Studies of the economic history of Fiume have so far shed light on the financial, commercial and
industrial development of the port city during the dualism, but the history of its tourist traffic to
and through the region has not yet been researched; although with this infrastructural investment
made it possible to build the riviera of the Monarchy in Abbazia, and for the poor classes the other
seaside in Crikvenica. Therefore, in my study and lecture, I would like to summarize the results of
contemporary Croatian historians (Igor Žic, Theodoro de Canziani) and my own research in the
State Archives of Rijeka (Državni Arhiv u Rijeci) to give a comprehensive picture of how the local
entrepreneurs established the tourism of Fiume, by the hotel builds, the promotion of local
attractions, and the shipping links locally and worldwide. Of course, I present my findings with
data and try to provide links to the development of tourism in Abbazia and Cirkvenica. I expect
from my work that by presenting the tourism history of Fiume in Hungarian, we can get an even
more complex picture of the layers of the city's development during the Hungarian period.
