Abstract

In the ever-changing tourism environment, in-depth analysis of consumer trends and the application of lessons learned is essential for the sector's stakeholders. Tourism service providers need up-to-date and relevant information on consumer needs and expectations in order to design tourism products and services accordingly. The aim of the research was to identify and analyse consumer trends affecting the domestic hospitality industry, with a particular focus on how they will affect the hospitality industry in the near future. The research examined different aspects of consumer behaviour, highlighting megatrends, trend-counter-trend pairs and current trends. The methodological approach was based on a questionnaire survey of 200 hospitality managers and employees in the South Transdanubian Region. The research results show that environmental and health consciousness and experiential learning are of major importance in shaping the future of the domestic hospitality industry.
